Approved for Immediate Release
OpenSS7 announces Linux 2.4 kernel support for SS7 and SIGTRAN protocol stacks.
(Plano, Texas -- April 17, 2002) OpenSS7 today announced the release of OpenSS7 SS7 and SIGTRAN packages supporting Linux 2.4.x kernels using LiS-2.13.17 (Linux STREAMS). These releases permits the OpenSS7 protocol stacks to run on SMP kernels for high-end server and carrier-class blade applications.
These releases show OpenSS7's continuing commitment to the Linux and OpenSource communities in providing signalling protocol stacks for use with Linux carrier-class and embedded systems.
Features
The OpenSS7 release provides an RFC 2960 compliant implementation of the new IETF Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP). This implementation has a unique multi-homed host routing algorithm for fail-over between interfacea making the SCTP stack particularly suited to SIGTRAN and SS7 signalling applications. It also supports the necessary levels of fault-tolerance required for carrier-class applications of SCTP and the SIGTRAN signalling suite.
Included in the release is an implementation of the SIGTRAN M2PA (MTP2 Peer-to-Peer Adaptation Layer) protocol which provides SS7 Message Transfer Part Level 2 services over SCTP. This implementation follows the lastest IETF M2PA draft (draft-ietf-sigtran-m2pa-04) and conforms to the applicable 76 Q.781 conformance test cases as described in draft-bidulock-sigtran-m2pa-test-01
The release also contains SS7 Level 2 drivers for several interface cards as well as providing an SS7/UDP emulation of an SS7 signalling link.
